I'm... not really sure how I feel about this book? I thought the writing was interesting, at least?
But there were a lot of obnoxious scenes that I didn't care for. Maybe it's my prudish nature (I'm not very prude, honestly), but I felt like a lot of the love-making scenes were used gratuitously; those are the ones that stick out the most, and I just hate them. I also found myself not liking most of the characters? And I don't know if that was the purpose of the book. I only really liked Salim and the Jalal family; the others grated on my nerves.
I feel like that may've been the point, but it was awkward and unamusing. I wasn't... really into this book that much.
