I think this book would be useful for both newbies to the concept of addiction and those who have more knowledge about it. It covers the basics, like how each drug affects you, but also the mechanisms by which they affect the brain, which was really insightful. She also added a whole lot of info about addiction and the brain, complete with charts and analogies, which ended up being incredibly helpful in helping me understand the biology behind it.

I thought I understood addiction as a disease. This book takes it to a whole other level. I highly recommend the book for people looking to understand the mechanisms and social attributes of chemical addition and dependency as told from an expert whose lives it!
