pithypants reviewed A Nearly Normal Family by Rachel Willson-Broyles
Review of 'A Nearly Normal Family' on 'Goodreads'
3 stars
This wasn't on my to-read list; I came across it when I was browsing the library's available audiobooks.
This legal whodunnit is told in three parts, from the perspectives of an 18 year old accused of murder, her father (a minister), and her mother (an attorney). The events surrounding the murder were salacious enough that – if written by an American author – I would've scored this book a star lower for being a bit trashy. But for whatever reason, I feel like Scandinavian writers (Stieg Larsson, Jo Nesbo, Peter Hoeg, etc.) can pull it off. I'm adding MT Edvardsson to that group, and will continue to turn to these authors when I'm looking for something dark.
