surya reviewed Synchrodestiny by Deepak Chopra
Review of 'Synchrodestiny' on 'Goodreads'
4 stars
In the first half of the book, Deepak tries so hard to convince the reader about the validity of spirituality by giving lots of interesting scientific theorems to backup spiritual concepts. I guess it might have appealed to skeptical people who are trying to get spiritual.
If you are a spiritual person already who doesn't need explanations or scientific theorems to back up spirituality, the first half of the book might appear to be beating around the bush.
The first half of the book pretty much sums up to what Ramya Krishnan (yeah! the diverse actress who played 'Nelambari' in Padayappa, 'Maggie' in Panchathanthiram and 'Raja Madha' in Bahubali) once said in the talk show 'Kofee with DD'(https://www.hotstar.com/tv/anbudan-dd/s-1063/chat-with-ramya-krishnan/1000173906 - towards the end she says)
"Be open. Open to absorb what the energy, the positive energies give you. That itself will take you in the right direction."
I must say Ramya …

I must say Ramya Krishnan did a better job in conveying this message than Deepak in his first half of this book.
The second half was pretty fun and interesting. In the second half Deepak quotes from Vedas and Vedantas with brief explanations and some exercises to try upon so that we might hopefully experience and understand them better and have fun.
In one of the exercises Deepak asks us to pick three archetypal mythical characters with whom we could relate ourselves the most. Deepak quotes many Greek mythical characters in this exercise and I knew none of the them. All the mythical characters I have known so far are from the east.So I decided to venture into Greek Mythology and gave Stephen Fry's 'Mythos' a try, which turned out to be a hilarious book.
See, Synchrodestiny in action -> For a long time now I have been looking for books that makes me laugh. Even though I had the book 'Mythos' with me for months, the book Synchrodestiny was one among the main reasons for me to pick 'Mythos' which ended up being a book that made me laugh.
Haha... Anyways, for this book I would give 3.75/5
