I've said it before and I'll say it again: The Bone Season should never have been a seven book series! At least since the ending of "The Mime Order" the plot just drags on and on and on. "The Song Rising" (book 3) was not much more than a set up for future installments imho and "The Mask Falling" didn't bring much to the table as well. The pacing in The Bone Season series is just far too slow for my taste. The fourth novel is (again) over 500 pages long and easily could've been about 200 pages shorter. The plot just did not deliver.

It's frustrating and a rather cheap way of moving the plot forward. She's also very stupid more often than not. She makes the same mistakes over and over again getting herself and others in danger. And then she gets saved by some one or other every single time. I need something new, exciting and surprising!!
I'm just done with this series. The more books come out the cheaper the writing feels. I even felt like the author Samantha Shannon stopped caring about her work.. I really enjoyed the first book when I first read it. But the more The Bone Season series drags on the good memories get spoilt.
I wanted to give The Mask Falling and the whole series one last chance but now I think that I shouldn't have bothered.
[I feel like my English is really bad in this review. I'm not a native speaker (and angry and disappointed with this book) so please don't judge me too hard.]
