Open City

I was testing out the capabilities of my new android phone and trying o be a good library staff member by figuring out how to use OverDrive Media Center and frankly, this was the first item I came across that was available for check out. I hardly ever read books without having heard anything about them, so it was a little disconcerting.

I didn't particularly like the book. Obviously character driven (no plot), but not by a character who was in any way likeable. I didn't feel like I really learned anything about the character (Julius), and so when a shocking personal detail comes out towards the end of the book I was literally shocked at how...impersonal it seemed (I just contradicted myself, didn't I?).
