Soon after the fall of the Taliban, in 2001, Deborah Rodriguez went to Afghanistan as part of a group offering humanitarian aid to this war-torn nation. Eh. The author is a little too absorbed with her personal story instead of the more interesting stories of her students. It's worth a read, if only to pick up on the slice of life that is found in the crossroads of the medieval world.
