Ok, yeah. I am obsessed with the book and movie. The making-of story is a tale worth telling, with its ecstatic ups and nail-biting downs.
It's a wonder that I never realized that the designer of the iconic book cover and movie poster, with the hands holding the crucifix/puppet strings was a Japanese-American designer named S Neil Fujita, who was interned during WWII. He was also known for iconic Jazz album covers for Columbia recordings, including Dave Brubeck's Time Out.
