The fact that this book seemed to be on everyone's "Hottest books of Summer" list makes me wonder just how discerning these list makers are, because, while this book wasn't terrible, it was far from great. The book could have benefitted from another round (or 2) of editing since Sykes doesn't seem to know how far Park Ave is from Madison Ave (not far enough to make it worth getting in a cab), or that an Assistant US Attorney doesn't defend anyone but the United States, much less "millennial repeat offenders." Another is in one line, Imogen thinks, it will be easy to get all of my designer friends to show up to this party I'm throwing, Carolina, Tom Ford, Michael Kors, etc., then in the next sentence she wonders if she can get Carolina Herrera to show up. Well then who the hell was the Carolina you just said was your friend and would definitely show up?
Then, the story meanders down pointless asides and flashbacks that don't really enhance the story, and just serve to confuse (me) as to what time period we're reading about. If the story was better, maybe I'd be willing to overlook some of these writing foibles but, it wasn't, so I'm not willing to spend my time on it anymore.
