Review of 'Doctored evidence' on 'Goodreads'

This was my first Donna Leon book, and I found it pleasant, if a little bland. The Venetian setting is appealing, but not exotic enough for my taste. And Brunetti is non objectionable but didn't really get me excited. I would read another one the way I would eat a sandwich at the airport on the way to another plane. If you like your mysteries brutal, dark and horrible inside settings that are unique and dark, and could care less about corrupt European bureaucrats, you would do better to look elsewhere. However, if you like your detectives to be admirable, plodding, kind and full of quiet integrity, and you like being immersed in Venice, these books are an excellent choice for a relaxing evening at home with the cats or grandchildren.
