A duty-bound ending, nothing too surprising.
Crown of Stars was a pretty good ending to a moderately good series. I particularly liked the usage of the epilogue to close the world rather than any of the characters in particular.
In retrospect, the series was too long by (at least) a book, and some of the more boring characters (IVAR) could have been removed. That said, the end was very satisfying for Liath, and even Alain.
At a certain point, the quantity of the series became a quality of its own, so even if I didn't particularly care for some of the characters I was still invested in their stories.
