I listened to it on my commute.

This is an abridged version, and I wonder what I missed. It was a little slow at first, so I'm not concerned over missing some things at the beginning. The "mystery" was not one I guessed. I think reading it for myself, without abridgment, I would have figured it out sooner.

I think the writing was splendid, and I very much enjoyed the story. The only drawback I found was the narrator had what I call "an old smoker's inhale," which means that people who have smoked for decades often have a distinctive cough and inhale that, quite honestly, I find disgusting to listen to. This narrator had that inhale. At least we were spared the cough.

Overall, I would recommend this novel for reading or listening. I greatly appreciated the commuting material.
