In 1920, Elsa Emerson, the youngest and blondest of three sisters, is born in Door County, Wisconsin. Married in her teens, she flees to Los Angeles and is discovered by one of the most powerful executives in Hollywood. Refashioned as an exotic brunette and renamed Laura Lamont, she experiences all the glamour of stardom. But ultimately, her story is a timeless one of a woman trying to balance career, family, and personal happiness.

Review of "Laura Lamont's Life in Pictures" on 'Storygraph'

2 stars

I just couldn’t get to grips with this book and found it totally lacking in emotion. It was such a disappointment as I love stories set in the Golden Age of Hollywood and I’ve really enjoyed Emma Straub’s writing before.
It felt as if Elsa/Laura floated through everything that happened in her life without much reaction. Or maybe that was just the way I felt about all the characters.
