New Manga Read - Frieren: Beyond Journey's End, Volume 10

Almost the entire volume is comprised of the memories of Macht of the Golden Land.

This flashback is SO well done. Incredible to fully understand Macht's backstory and how it overlapped with the region, with Denken, and with Frieren.

Flashing back to the present in the story and Macht with a friend from the past become a problem.

But that ending.

Such a well crafted volume, as always. Now I need to request the next volumes from my library!

New Read - Frieren: Beyond Journey's End, Volume 9

So good.

No, seriously, each volume is just so good.

Volume 9 brings back Denken into the plot. We meet near the Golden Land as Denken is trying to get Frieren's help to defeat the demon that has kept it gold. And the plot here, so well done. A lot of good flashbacks and the reveal of the demon's personal connection to Denken.

So good.

Can't wait to read the next volume.

New Read - Frieren: Beyond Journey's End, Volume 8

Volume 8 is a collection of shorter stories of Fern, Frieren, and Stark. Various encounters, well done flashbacks, solid fight scenes. Everyone holding their own.

But the final chapter showed Denken coming back into the story and, for that, I am thrilled.

Denken is back, guys!!

Sorry.

Anyway, loved it. Looking forward to Volume 9.

Frieren: Beyond Journey's End, Volumes 3 through 6

As my old Instance is going down, I'm bringing some of my reviews and posts over from there to Mastodon.

First, here are the covers for Volumes 3 through 6 of Frieren.

Second, they were all VERY good.

Third, my favorite new character introduced in this set of volumes is Denken.

More thoughts in follow up toots.

New Read - Frieren: Beyond Journey's End, Volume 6

Volume 6 is the entirety of the next part of the First-Class Mage examination, as well as a beginning to the next part. The part after that, is brief and amazing, but I'll let you read it to find out. There's also more flashbacks to a younger Frieren and the head of the entire magical program. They're well done.

This section within the cavern is great and you see how each of the different mages you met in the previous volume deal with the potential conflicts of entering into this unimaginably difficult dungeon. Including a monster at the center that can duplicate the powers of individuals. Once again, Denken has great foresight. Also, Frieren trapped in a mimic. Had to save that screenshot.

Onward to Volume 7.

New Read - Frieren: Beyond Journey's End, Volume 5

Volume 5 saw our magic wielders begin trials to become registered as a First-Class Mages.

We met a host of new, interesting characters. However, my favorite was Denken. He's an older, wiser, bearded man who, like Frieren, is in it not for the prestige or the authority, but largely for the love of magic and to return to see his hometown. I appreciate that. He also has a soft spot for younger mages, which I also appreciate. I feel this aspect will be on display as the trials progress.

All in all, loved the volume, ready for Volume 6.
