Another batch of chiles goes into the dryer
Guajillos, Chiles de Arbol, Paprika, and Cayenne.
The cayenne harvest is just about over -- we might get this many one more time. The guajillos are just kicking in. And I don't know many more of the paprikas will finish ripening before frost: we might get a lot more, we might get only a few more. The arbols were a #peppergate accident so I'm happy with however many we get: this is the 3rd batch.

One of the other beds at my community garden has this stunning African Blue basil. It keeps its blooms longer than standard varieties, and the pollinators are loving it. This is apparently a hybrid between opal basil and camphor basil, making it sterile, but it can be a perennial, unlike its relatives. If I find out who owns the bed, I may have to ask them for a cutting. #nature #gardening #bees #herbs

Weird. There's one sunflower growing, about a foot, beans which aren't supposed to grow at this time of the year, broadbeans garlic and cauli growing, under attack by butterflies. Saw three dragonflies!
Robin, bluetits, coal tits and tree sparrows, one unidentified small grey bird, magpies and crows.
Tobacco now flowering.

I'm not normally one to collect curb gifts, but I couldn't pass this one up. It's a rotating bin composter. It's even got a tub below to catch the "tea"!

The #Equinox made me consider the imbalance in my #gardening practice. We neglected our garden last year and it took us a long time to spring back from that. So I think I’ve overcorrected by succession planting ad infinitum because my goal is to always have something to eat in the garden. But rest is important. Fallow periods are important. In temperate climates, ppl rest in the winter. Here, the summer is a time when gardeners take a break. I need to find a middle ground. #Balance @gardening
