Yesterday, in a moment of weakness, I bought 50 daffodil bulbs and 3 frittilaria bulbs. Today, in a moment of absolute determination, I planted them all.
These are to replace the bad idea bulbs, which seem to have vanished, anyway.

I had a beautiful garden visitor this morning — monarch butterfly on fall sunflowers. 🌻🦋
Today’s harvest! Despite the funky weather this year, my mini backyard garden is still cranking out the food. Squash is basically done, and tomatoes are closing up shop, but the beans have a second wind (getting two decent harvests each week) and the peppers are just getting started .. will need to do some drying or pickling. So much fun!

Looking for input, pros and cons, of garden plot design tools. Wanting features such as the basics of size, but including constraints such as a path must be here, raspberries grow here, and over there be dragons. Also want plant and succession planting recommendations based on the planting zone. All notes or suggestions gladly received with thanks. #gardening #gyo #GrowFoodFromSeed #Zone6b #Design #software #PlotPlan
When I've finally had enough, I think I'll follow in the footsteps of many of my spiritual forebears of the tech industry and become a farmer.
Apparently I might have a future in Jarrahdale pumpkins.

Ok. While this is not dog vomit slime mold I'd say it fits the #DogVomitSlimeMoldSunday theme: I present to you "Slimeordial tree boob blobs slime mold" (alternatively known as Wolf's Milk or Lycogala epidendrum).
Anyway. Slimeordial Tree Boob Blobs! Video to show how the inside oozes out. For your scientific curiosity :-)

A few stray cucumbers were enough to make a small batch of pickles, supplemented with some carrots. 🥒😋

rosemary is such a hardy herb. i have a shrub that is still flowering & dry farmed. right now, it has marine blue butterflies, two kinds of solitary bees, and honey bees visiting. the solitary bees are agapostemon and anthophora. keep giving back to the earth #gardening
Cool and drizzly all day. It was kinda nice not feeling the pressure to get outside and do stuff. 🍁☔️
Busy day today! Doing a little #BloomScrolling too! I planted a sweet potato on a whim and it's taken over the little yard I put it in! Every so often, it also makes a single very pretty flower, like a big morning glory.

This week's storm tipped over the corn plants. No real loss there as it turns out it was all rotting from the inside anyway. 🎉
It's been a strange season. Amazing for potatoes, strawberries, beans, and pumpkins. Awful for peas, corn and cucumbers.
On paper I'd expect cucumbers and pumpkins to do equally well, but not this time. It was the timing of these crops. The weather changed so drastically that we lost the entire first sowing of cucumbers. The second one didn't make it up before the frost hit. The pumpkins on the other hand were already established enough and made it through.
Similarly I'd expect peas and beans to perform equally, but this year with it's mild winter and warm weather was pest heaven and the peas were a near-complete loss.

We always plant a variety of things because you never know what jokes nature decides to play. If you put crops with opposite needs and different timing in the same plot you'll pretty much always have some wins and the losses hurt less. This year serves to reaffirm my trust in that approach.
