Book Review: Him by J. D. Kirk

Hi everyone! I hope you’re all well. Today is Friday, and it’s once again time for another review. This week, I’m changing things up slightly and reviewing the audiobook Him by J. D. Kirk.

Him was published exclusively by Audible on 10th February 2025 and is 9 hours and 28 minutes long.

The Plot
Sarah’s life is devastated when her husband, Nick, dies in a horrific car accident. Can someone recommend something they liked? Favorite topics include sci-fi (the harder the better), fantasy. Looong books preferred, I listen a lot.

Things I liked recently included "locked in" by John Scalzi, Adrian Tschaikovsky (but I think I'm through with everything from him that's on audible), Becky Chambers, "project hail Mary".

Finished Kangaroo Too by Curtis C. Chen. This follows Waypoint Kangaroo. They are fast moving space novels with a relatable protagonist codename: Kangaroo because he can create an opening to an empty alternate universe he calls the pocket. As an intelligence operative, he uses the pocket to stash all kinds of things, and it often comes in handy in emergencies. In this book, Kangaroo discovers a black program that seeks to exploit his mysterious superpower, and his old doctor, whom he hated, is in charge of it. I liked Waypoint Kangaroo better but this one was sttill entertaining. ⭐ ⭐ ⭐
