The invisible lie that pins up the scrutiny of (everyone's, but specifically activists') individualistic consumer "choices" is that industry is merely providing what consumers are buying.

False.

The problem with fossil fuel companies is NOT that they are selling us stuff we wanna buy. It is that they KNEW about climate change, its causes and dangers for MANY DECADES and invested huge amounts of resources into disinformation campaigns!

The problem is that they lied to us. That they are still lying to us. That they are sabotaging our ability to make informed, consensual choices and to look for alternatives to unsustainable technologies. They also like to corrupt/break laws, do murders and genocides.

A society that holds people in power accountable to the truth can and does develop sustainable technologies that support ecologically responsible development and growth of human potential, rather than concentrations of power (which is what capital is).

The Journal of Electronic Publishing (JEP) has announced the publication of their new special issue on and , edited by Janneke Adema.

This important collection captures urgent and critical research that starts to outline the challenges the climate emergency poses to the publishing sector. The issue asks: What is the role and responsibility of the publishing industry in tackling change? The contributions to this issue all share a desire to further the dialogue about climate (in)justice in scholarly publishing, highlighting the paucity of research on this topic. But they also offer real examples of ways in which scholars, , , and infrastructure providers can start to make meaningful change in this context.

Please share this special issue with anyone in your network who may be interested in Publishing and Climate Justice!

And so it begin's: Possible jail time for climate criminals:

"South Africa will seek jail time, fines and higher taxes for breaches of proposed rules to govern carbon emissions that will apply to almost all sectors of the economy...

A failure to meet reporting requirements could see executives imprisoned, while exceeding emission limits may trigger a higher carbon-tax rate."
