My day job is as staff for SEIU 1021, the largest public sector union in Northern California. Along with my coworkers in CWA 9404, we're the organizers, field reps, comms, IT, research, and membership staff who support 1021 members. And we may be forced to strike July 1.

We're bargaining for a more powerful union. Help us build our strike fund: https://www.gofundme.com/f/cwa-9404-strike-fund-support-seiu-1021-staff

(All funds will be returned to donors if no strike occurs.)

"To make it work, [Microsoft Japan] mandated that no meetings could go longer than 30 minutes. It also told managers to avoid unnecessary meetings and use face-to-face chats instead. Its widely reported results were striking: Productivity increased by 40% over the trial period, while time off fell by 25%."

For ten days, teachers belonging to the National Coordinator of Education Workers (CNTE), the dissident wing of the pro-government National Union of Education Workers (SNTE), have been on strike in Mexico.

They have installed a massive encampment in the Zócalo of Mexico City, held marches daily, taken over subway stations and allowed people to pass for free, and on Friday tried to shut down Mexico City's main international airport.

Their demands are a raise of 100% and the repeal of the ISSSTE Law, a neoliberal reform passed in 2007 that raised the retirement age and privatized pensions.

President Sheinbaum has offered a raise of 10% but declined to repeal the law, despite promising to do so during her campaign. She has refused to meet with the CNTE.
