@arstechnica They have to just be bleeding money. I ran some back of the napkin numbers based on pricing and estimated subscribers in the U.S. when they announced the deal, and they'd basically need to double their paid subscriber base here to break even on that alone.

Going full cyberpunk data broker, sitting here in a twilight-darkened office before the lights come on with the cyber-green desk lighting, watching the race on my iPad while monitoring multiple data streams and channels on two more desktop monitors.

I dropped all my cable/broadcast providers 2 years ago, and mainly watch 3 streaming services (and I'm thinking about dropping them too). I watch via the F1 TV app with a Pro subscription.

Well today I got this email that left me very confused:

From January 2026, our new Formula 1 broadcast partner in the US will be Apple TV. Next season F1® TV Premium will continue to be available in the U.S., included with an Apple TV subscription only. You will still be able to purchase F1® TV Access, which remains available in the US. 

So does this mean that I'm going to be forced to get Apple TV if I want to continue watching F1 or am I going to still be able to use the F1 TV app but have to pay a-la-carte or PPV or something stupid like that? I'm not …
