Happy Pi Day, fediverse!

And since it's also Albert Einstein's birthday, here's a quote from his 1949 article "Why Socialism?":

"The economic anarchy of capitalist society as it exists today is, in my opinion, the real source of the evil."

He sure was a smart guy.

There are striking parallels between Sanders and Bernstein that illustrate why it's important for people to learn from history.

Though a century apart, both peddle reformism as a political pacifier, diverting energy from the radical systemic change required to dismantle capitalism. Their approaches, while superficially progressive, function as ideological traps, diverting energy from serious movements necessary to upend capitalism.

Today in Labor History March 8, 1911: The first modern International Women’s Day was celebrated in Austria, Denmark, Switzerland, Germany and the U.S. IWD has its roots in the suffrage movement of New Zealand, and leftist labor organizing in the U.S. and Europe. The earliest Women’s Days were organized by the Socialist Party of America, in New York, in 1909, and by German socialists in 1910. They chose the date of March 8 in honor of the garment workers strikes in New York that occurred on March 8, in 1857 and 1908. However, the first IWD celebrated on March 8, the current date, was in 1911. The holiday was associated primarily with far-left movements until the feminist movement adopted it in the 1960s, when it became a more mainstream celebration.

I will never understand what motivates the rich. Imagine if you had Musk or Branson's money. Wouldn't your home have glorious parks, libraries, art galleries stuffed with interesting works, concerts and successful sports teams? There would be no homelessness or teenagers roaming the streets with nothing to do. There would be nobody cold or hungry. Even harder to understand if you could do all of these things and still be fabulously wealthy and want for nothing.

There is only one sure way to cure doomerism and political depression: organisation. When Joe Hill said: "Don't mourn, organise!", this was no empty slogan.

Join a progressive political party, go to a protest, do something that.

Today I was at the annual meeting of our local chapter of the Swedish Left Party, a socialist, feminist and anti racist party. It was mundane and beautiful.
What are your plans for organisation?

Please can all socialist parties print this at the top of all their flyers and keep repeating until people understand

Red tape is a good thing
Red tape stops you swimming in shit at the beach
Red tape stops your house falling down and killing you while you sleep
Red tape stops people driving on the wrong side of the road.
Red tape stops a charlatan from killing you when treating your cancer with paracetamol
Red tape stops you eating toxic chemicals in your breakfast
