Steven Spielberg, Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks – „Die Verlegerin“ (2017)

(ARTE)

If you're not already boycotting Amazon, today would be a good time to start.
---
The president on Tuesday called the Amazon founder to voice his displeasure with a report that his company was going to start showing how tariffs increased the prices of certain products. But the phone call, according to Donald Trump, spurred Bezos and Amazon to ditch that plan altogether. Afterwards, on Tuesday afternoon, the president had nothing but nice things to say about Bezos while speaking to reporters.

“Jeff Bezos was very nice, he was terrific,” the president said. “He solved the problem very quickly, and he did the right thing. He’s a good guy.”

Charlie Chaplin (1889 – 1977)

(ARTE)

With a casual diktat that would make William Randolph Hearst blush, has laid bare what critics have long suspected: when buy , they aren’t just after profitable investments — they’re buying ideological bodyguards."

Subscribers to The Washington Post don't like Jeff Bezos's radical overhaul of the paper's opinion pages. More than 75,000 have canceled since the announcement on Wednesday. Current and ex-staffers have also spoken out, with former executive editor Marty Baron calling the move "craven." Between late October and the day of the U.S. election (Nov. 5), more than 300,000 subscribers canceled. The Post has wooed around 400,000 new subscribers since then, @npr reports, but often at highly discounted rates.
