4. Fill in a nxn grid with n letters related n times with no two letters on the same row or column.
5. Dobble (scouts version).

If someone wants to run this on their or unit, let me know and I'll make the activities public in OSM. I added the badges, etc

I it's Maths Week England this week and I ran algorithm based activities with my Beavers unit, blended into games.
1. Tell somoene how to build a lego they cannot see.
2. Pass water from a cup to someone else's cup with a syringe with the number of ml given by a die cast. The one with less water at the end wins.
3. Stick race. Add a stick to a line once per turn. They must figure out largest sticks will get them to win.

A leucistic white beaver lives in Eastern Ontario.

An Ottawa photographer and a recently retired Carleton University professor went out near Perth to follow up on reports. Yes, they successfully captured it on photos.

"To see a totally white beaver with dark eyes and a dark foot, that's incredible!"

Saturday morning beaver frolics, these two are wrasslin, splashin, rollin and tumblin, creating quite a ruckus. Maybe later they went into the lodge and got frisky, I don't know! 👀

Here is the biggest, burliest, chonk of a beaver I've ever seen, and I've seen many. I'm going to say 50 pounds if an ounce, maybe 60 or more. It was a long way off so the pics are poor. We had our 10-40 binocs along so got a very good look at it, a truly impressive beast.

The front page of Wikipedia yesterday featured this article about a dam in the Czech Republic.

The Czech government had promised to restore some wetlands, but they dragged their bureaucratic feet.

So then some moved in. To quote Wikipedia:
"The beaver-built dams provided ecological benefits, including improved water quality, enhanced biodiversity, and better water retention, while also saving the Czech government approximately US$1.2 million."

Very clear evidence of activity. You can see their many chew marks on this stump. This is in a small community park, stewarded by citizens who live beside little Calvert Lake.

Access to trails is off of Prospect Lake Rd & easy to miss if you're not paying close attention. Only room for 2 cars to park on roadside pullouts. The trails aren't very well maintained & you can easily get lost around them. I've ended up in someone's backyard once, trying to hike back out. Wear long pants because there's a lot of places you have to bushwhack through along tiny footpaths. Lots of salal, Oregon grape, lady ferns (excellent for fiddleheads harvesting) & mushrooms.
