"Rena came outside... to find the tree’s lowest branch lying among the daffodils, torn from the trunk like a chunk of stale bread. The shock was new and sharp. It broke through the fog inside her."
Friends, heed the content warnings. A beautiful, painful story about the limits of even the deepest bonds 💔🌿

Life’s been so weird this decade, I’ve been catching up on some seriously good sci-fi and dystopian series. Here’s what I’ve been binging lately:
🔩 Silo (Apple TV+) – Secrets, lies, and life underground
🌌 Andor (Disney+) – The Rebellion begins with a spark
🚀 For All Mankind (Apple TV+) – What if the space race never ended?
🧟♂️ The Last of Us (Max) – Fungi, fear, and fierce survival
🧠 Severance (Apple TV+) – Work-life balance, but terrifying
Got recs in the same vein? Drop them below 👇✨🛸

Thanks to fellow author Daniel Lorn for taking the time to read and review "Hostile Takeover." This "story single," which is available via Amazon & Audible, is also included in my latest novel-length book "8: Tales of The Big Men from The Nod/Wells Timelines."

I found this photo by Reg Cannon of the northern lights over the abandoned Tarlair swimming pool in MacDuff. The pool, one of my old haunts in Banffshire, inspired this story published in Fireside Quarterly. https://firesidefiction.com/the-middening #Scotland #ShortFiction #AbandonedPlaces #SpeculativeFiction #Writing
It’s not what AI knows.
It’s what AI knows about you.
A world where data becomes control.
Where AI art drowns out the human voice.
Where convenience replaces truth.
And we don’t know the difference...
Maybe we’re already there.

A remarkable exploration of family, society, and what makes us human, HUMAN will take you from the post-apocalyptic world of the near future, to the two very different societies that emerge 15 million years later, where those few surviving individuals have evolved to become something that we might not fully recognize as human.

"Everyone flutters, flaring with the strongest of yellows, a rich goldenrod-alarm.
At the edge of the trees waits a stranger, a human, the first we've encountered in so very long."

Whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger. But Dash — the lead character in Omar Hussain's speculative / literary fiction thriller novel "A Thousand Natural Shocks" — clearly doesn't agree because he's trying real hard to forget. To learn more, check out this exclusive interview.

Reading Ishiguro’s “Klara and the Sun” and it just occurs to me: is this book a self-conscious inversion of “Never Let Me Go”? A story about continuing a life that’s ending, rather than ending a life (“completing”) to continue another?
It’s not a bad life, really, out here where they’re learning to let things live again.
