Do not call all AFAB nonbinary people 'transmasc' and all AMAB nonbinary people 'transfemme'.
Individuals may or may not identify with those terms for a variety of reasons, but assigning them to nonbinary people based exclusively on their AGAB is not okay!
You are effectively saying a person's gender identity can only be certain things because of their AGAB regardless of how they feel/identify- it shouldn't be hard to understand why that is transphobic!!!
There are AFAB transfemmes, AMAB transmascs, and nonbinary people (like me) that do not identify as either.
Calling someone a gender they don't identify as is still misgendering if the gender identity you are saying is not their AGAB or either 'man' or 'woman'.
Oh, you’re trying to make a general statement and this makes it easier for you? It’s takes more time to check how a person identifies before using a term to describe them? …

Oh, you’re trying to make a general statement and this makes it easier for you? It’s takes more time to check how a person identifies before using a term to describe them? These are the exact ‘arguments’ we hear transphobes use for misgendering!!! Are you really choosing to become one of the transphobes making excuses for misgendering trans people because it is ‘easier’!?!?
Now this is stranger than fiction: The LGBTQ+ book prize Polaris has put a novel by John Boyne on their longlist for 2025. John Boyne is a gay man, openly transphobic, identifies as a TERF and is also openly friends with JK Rowling. 😡
"Of the original nine siblings, only Three, Six, and Nine were still alive. If you want to talk to them, you should do it soon, just in case, said my mother, so I went."
In this week's new essay, Hannah Engler interrogates a typo in her great-uncle's obituary.
