Caitlin Schneiderhan: Medici Heist (2024, Feiwel & Friends)

Welcome to Florence, 1517, a world of intrigue and opulence, murder and betrayal. Seventeen-year-old conwoman …

Not feisty enough for me

Rosa wants payback, specifically from the Medici family, and especially from Pope Leo X.

I didn't enjoy this much, and was quite bored through long stretches. It just wasn’t for me. I found it tropey, full of cardboard cutout Special boys and girls that are tediously young in a specifically YA way, a telegraphed twist, and lacking any of the thrills a good heist can provide. I'll continue waiting for the next Gentlemen Bastards novel.
