Reviewing the full version of the story published in The Horror in the Museum and Other Revisions (1989).

Really one of Lovecraft's best stories. I think The Mound deserves to be remembered as one of his great world-building stories alongside The Shadow Out of Time, At the Mountains of Madness, and the Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath, and I think the only reason it isn't is because it he ghost-wrote it for someone else.

This is the gayest thing H.P. Lovecraft ever wrote, and the sad thing is that he would have denied it.
