Took me a while to finish, as I had paused reading it over summer. I found the ideas and concepts interesting to ponder, but sometimes they were rather hard to grasp and follow.

Jan E. quoted The Science of Discworld II: The Globe by Ian Stewart (Science of Discworld, #2)
The allure of the unknown fades into the tawdry reality of a specific representation, once you see it dripping sequins. Abraham's God of Extelligence was far more compelling than a few golden (probably just gold leaf) idols. But when the Renaissance artists started to paint God as a bearded man in the clouds, they opened the way to doubt. The image just wasn't impressive enough. The pictures on radio are always so much better than those on TV.

Jan E. quoted A Blink of the Screen by Terry Pratchett
From „Minutes of the meeting to form the Ankh-Morpork Federation of Scouts“:
Crysophrase said that he was a scout when he was nothing more than a little lad and it made a troll of him. As he recalled, they spent their time learning tracking and tying knots.
Mr Boggis asked what it was the trolls tracked.
Crysophrase vouchsafed that they tracked dwarfs.
Mr Boggis then enquired what they tied knots in.
Crysophrase said dwarfs.

Jan E. finished reading Terry Pratchett : a Life with Footnotes by Rob Wilkins
Danke Rob Wilkins, GNU Terry Pratchett.
