A solid follow-up (albeit a prequel) to Legends and Lattes. Just a much fun and just as cozy as the first one.

Oomph... This was just painful

This book was, well to put it bluntly... this book was just bad. It felt like horrendous fan service and nostalgia pandering. It somehow managed to make characters we actually cared about in the first novel not only one dimensional, but entirely forgettable and/or unlikeable. The plot was unhinged and felt like a loosely rewritten copy of what happened in book one, only with a few edits.
I'm being generous with two stars. Wish I had skipped it.

Exciting and Special

Like so many of Moreno-Garcia's books, this was steeped in history and culture, and as with many of her books it was a remarkable shift in genre. This book felt like a fairy tale and had all the special touches of the hero (or heroine) journey.
So highly recommended.
