I've certainly liked and not liked plenty of Trek novels over the years, but this one is the first one I could think of that I was excited over as I kept going in a really long time. First, while I've grown tired of the revisiting something from a previous mission, this one was at least something we have never revisited before - Gillian Taylor from ST4. Plus those events were introduced in a totally new way - a modern day podcaster! And all that was done great - bringing in the events we saw, the people from 1986 San Francisco that say them to show us how they affected those left behind, plus introducing us to the main story, which was totally new - no other major Easter eggs or revisits to the past.
