This is an early generation ship story. After reading the reviews I find that the book is a mash up of a couple of short stories, but it holds up as an okay short novel. When people complain that Heinlein doesn't write character I point to Jim-Bob leader of the Muties (it's unclear if Muties means mutineers are mutations) as an example of a unique character. Hard-core fans of Mr. Heinlein will like this story.
