Revisiting a childhood favorite, I'm surprised just how well the experience holds up. Yes, there are flaws I'd not noticed then and it's not as awe inspiring as memory shelved it but the characters and the world building are just as solid and enthralling as I recall. The action and pacing still a page turner. The twists and developments still as powerful despite foreknowledge. The snapping ambition of the series and Cosmere and all Brandon Sanderson follows this book with can almost be sensed in all that's laid out here but even in a vacuum, what a phenomenal book. A phenomenal start.
