A perfectly cute volume, but the very first chapter felt like the end of a longer story that we didn't get to read.  The book leans heavily on anime cliches (shoujo genre specifically), and while there's nothing wrong with that - the twist at the end of the first bit works in part because it plays on genre expectations - it doesn't make up for the flat characters. Tropes can only take you so far, and I'm not sure why the story wasn't about everything leading up to that first chapter instead.
