Michael Pollan: Cooked (2013, The Penguin Press)

"Fire, water, air, earth--our most trusted food expert recounts the story of his culinary education …

Suprisingly interesting book

I didn't expect so much from this book, but I actually found each section quite compelling. From fire to earth. But the part about sourdough really got me. Well worth your time even if you are not into the stilly amount of cooking shows right now.

Catherine Bracy: World Eaters (2025, Dutton (E.P.) & Co Inc, N.Y.)

An urgent and illuminating perspective that offers a window into how the most pernicious aspects …

Nothing new here but the book gives a nice summary, didn't expect it to go where it goes at the end. Nice positive end as such...

Good book for the moden man

This is a good book, its exactly what it says. Notes rather than a detailed breakdown of what it means to be a man. Richard Reeves' book is that and Scott is honest about his pointers to that book.

I don't always agree with everything Scott says for example about holding the door open for women. But compared to a lot of the hyper masculine rubbish you you see and hear, Scott is spotless.

If I was much young, this is a book which would really help as a positive pointer.
