Review of 'All we ever wanted' on 'Goodreads'

3 stars

I really enjoyed this book. I initially gave it five stars, then four, and eventually three after some thought. It’s no doubt an important topic, and one that is pertinent now. However, this book either needed to be longer or she needed to cut down on something else. There is SO much buildup to the trial—the entire book pretty much revolves around it. And then it abruptly ends with just a short summary of the trial?? We don’t even get to witness it? I wanted to be a part of that trial!!! While I appreciated her constant acknowledgment of the insane privilege and arrogance that Kirk displayed, I wanted to see that in play when it came to the most important part. I wanted to see more about what happened to Finch and his life post-trial. I wanted to know more about Polly and what happened to her. I wanted to see how Nina reacted after the trial. Maybe Emily Giffin was just a little ambitious with this and tried to fit a lot of topics into one—personally, I think she could have accomplished a lot more making this a series of books.
