Review of 'The Freedom of Self Forgetfulness' on 'Goodreads'
5 stars
Excellent work on pride and humility.
Good quick little read on issues of pride, humility, and ego. I recommend it highly. It will only take a few minutes to read.
What if you had a pastor living next door? Not some up tight self-righteous jerk, but a pastor who embraced you in your doubts and encouraged your questions?
Hopefully, I can be that guy.

Challenging and Thought Provoking
As a Reformed, Presbyterian pastor I should not lIke this book. Many in my tribe would say that I should not have even read this book. Yet, more and more I find myself to Bell. His writings are almost a call home.
This book in particular made me think about the Scriptures in ridiculously new ways. I had many “hmmm...” moments. Many moments that made me realize how I have missed the point.
As I walk from this text I am left wanting and needing to read the Scriptures. I desperately want to enter into the story the way Bell does in these pages. I want to love the Scriptures the way he does.
I would encourage anyone to read this book. You will be challenged and your mind about the Scriptures will be impacted.
Helpful and accessible
This was a helpful little primer on the Psalms. It’s concise and straight to the point. I recommend it without any hesitation. The focus on time, space, and matter particularly insightful.
