Amanda Quraishi reviewed The Souls of Black Folk by W. E. B. Du Bois
Fascinating, sobering, inspiring
5 stars
This book provides a snapshot of Reconstruction-era culture and politics in America, and provides perspective about how far we've come - and how far we still have to go - as a nation to address the harm done by slavery. Some of the passages are heart-stirringly beautiful, while others are powerful calls to action. Absolutely relevant and worth reading in 2023.
