Unconscious Memory: Modern and Theoretical Approach to Psychology
I bought this book on Amazon with a discount and had also browsed it in a local store before. I can't think of anything to categorize this book. It is a non-fiction book and covers various topics in a free but deep language. It talks about eroticism, the adult content industry, memory, consciousness, willpower, learning, childhood, adulthood, being a woman, being a man, raising children, learning a language, habits, obsessions, depression, disorders and many more topics that I can't remember. I can't wait to review it. Let's get started. ✨
The book is divided into some subheadings. After the introduction, where the author tells the story of the writing of the book, author explains the foundations of the ideas in 18 chapters. This part gave me the feeling that I was reading a part from Sherlock Holmes, to be honest. …

The book is divided into some subheadings. After the introduction, where the author tells the story of the writing of the book, author explains the foundations of the ideas in 18 chapters. This part gave me the feeling that I was reading a part from Sherlock Holmes, to be honest. The topics did not tell the intrigue of a novel, but the way the topics were approached, the transitions between the topics and the details about the topics gave that feeling.
After the chapters, I came across something I am not familiar with in the books. The author lists all the ideas, theories, inferences and questions mentioned and not mentioned in the chapters, one by one. This is one of the longest sections in the book. An interesting method, but much easier and more enjoyable to read. I didn't start this book with the hope and expectation of reading the usual books. That's why I don't judge anything.
The last part of the book talks about eroticism. The author mentioned about this from time to time throughout the book, but this time this part is dedicated entirely to eroticism. In this part the book talks about erotic figures, aesthetics, genders, being male and female, and the adult content industry. Again, something I didn't see in other books is that there are reviews of adult movies in the book. 🤫 This is book is essentially a book of intense analysis, and this is the aim throughout the book. The book talks about the movies in detail and covers 13 selected movies. I was very surprised while reading because the paragraphs have perspectives that I do not have.
• Cover: 🌟 10/10
The cover is directly saying what it means. The first time I saw it on the store, it managed to interest me. I love the illustration and all the graphics used throughout the book. It says on the book that all the content, editing, illustrations and basically everything is actually made by the author. It's amazing that the author can make such illustrations! With a little research, I even found that the book has a website. You can find the store page and website at the end of the article. It is definitely ten out of ten.
• Title: ⭐ 9/10
Title slightly summarizes all the content of the book since it is also illustrated on cover. Nowadays longer titles are popular and I do not like it at all, so a shorter, descriptive and pointed title is a pro for me.
• Interior Design: ⭐ 8/10
It is not a colouring book nor a novel with fancy drawings, I know. However, small details on pages and interior design made me very happy reading throughout the book. Each detail manages to reinforce the meaning and purpose of the book.
• Content: ⭐ 8/10
Like everyone else, I read entertaining and easy-to-read books to relax at the end of the day. I am not running away from reading deep books, but the textbooks I read at college keep my mind busy enough. Frankly, I did not expect this book to be like this. But that does not mean I do not like it. The book was more confusing, slow and difficult to understand than I expected. It was almost like a maze between sentences and paragraphs. Sometimes the transitions between topics gave me the feeling that I was starting to read another book. Did I like the book in the end? Absolutely yes. Because I was already tired of reading YA, fantasy, science-fiction and I needed to read a thought-provoking, exciting and original book.
• Price: ⭐ 10/10
No one can put a certain price on books, but this is quite cheaper than both non-fiction and fiction books. There is also an e-book option, and I have seen it sold in various stores and on Kobo too. It took me a while to read this book, but I was paying two or three times as much for novels that I finished in one day. This book definitely deserves more.
I enjoyed reading this book very much. Instead of judging, criticizing or correcting what was written, I just tried to understand it. I think this book should be read without expectations and prejudices. The author states many times at the beginning and end of the book that they did not receive any help from any other book or source, and that they did not have any previous education or knowledge about the subjects. I'm aware that professionals and experts can advertise more and gain more trust, but this book definitely deserves a chance. So I ignored the possible errors in the book, because it was a theory book and the author had laid the foundations for it when they were in high school. I think this was actually admirable and appreciable, and that’s what made it different. So it was good for me to read something that was out of the ordinary. We're all used to seeing therapists write on social media and blogs every day, and I couldn't spend my evenings reading books about the same things. This book did not give me any sense of regret at all, and I believe it will surprise you too. Have fun reading already! 🎉
