Sometimes, you just need a little break. This "cozy" mystery was a fun little read and I enjoyed every page. Mel, Angie and Tate made a great trio, with relationships that date back to before high school.

But the trio is threatened when Tate decides to marry a woman the two ladies dislike, although they try their best to understand. But when the bride turns up dead, all eyes look to the "jealous" lover Mel and she needs to figure out who did it before the local (heartthrob!) assistant DA comes after her.

So I enjoyed the description of the tensions of a male / female friendship. Especially given the extra pressure of Mel's mom telling her how she should just give up trying to fight her attraction to the very desirable Tate and marry him already, when she just wants to continue to be friends, watching old movies as a threesome.

So it was a fun little mystery. I have to admit, not being very familiar with the "cozy mystery" genres, I am wondering how they can keep having Mel, as the owner of a cupcake shop, keep getting involved in murders! But I do appreciate the recipes at the end of the book and I may just have to try one or two of them!
