@subcutaneous The premise is excellent but motivations and points of conflict were frustrating. Characters who are scared and/or harried still have time to make unnatural chapter-long confessions. Also commercial concerns seem to be the magic ingredient in making the maps work. You can't draw your own secret passages even if it's in your training. At the same time when I abandon books in a heartbeat I did make it alll the way to the dragged out end :)
