Wow.
I thought I was tired of books about teenage problems, that I had outgrown them. This book though. My teenage years were never instantly falling in love with gorgeous boys. They were uncomfortable, confusing and with some misinformation about tampon use.
Xiomara goes through so much more than I ever did, at least that's how it feels now to me. But the way her story flows in the words and voice of Elizabeth just gripped me and didn't quite let me go.
I picked it up because it was mentioned in context with poetry and spoken word. I was not disappointed.
It didn't suck.
