I really liked the first half of this book. The latter part sidelined many of my favorite plot elements in order to focus almost exclusively on the romance, which isn’t my thing; this book may be a better choice for readers more into pure romance. Lovely writing, though, and very sympathetic characters as well.

I found this book to be a fantastic blend of the science of forests’ interconnectedness, combined with stories of the author’s life and family history in the deep forests of British Columbia.

Oh my GOD I loved this book. Gorgeous prose; dynamic characters; great political science fiction. I’ve been looking for something with Expanse vibes since finishing that series, and this fit that bill while also being very much its own thing. Highly recommended.

Jackie Robinson’s autobiography is more than just a story about baseball - it is a sometimes searingly candid look at his beliefs, family life, complex relationships in and outside of baseball, and career after he hung up the cleats. Highly recommended for anyone curious about the person behind the legend.

I’ve long been fascinated by the life of Sophie Scholl, a German student executed in 1943 for her anti-Nazi political activities. I found Kip Wilson’s ‘White Rose’ to be a lovely, heartbreaking, stripped-down novel-in-verse that captured Sophie’s passion, intelligence and resolve, and her love of the natural world.

Anyone who’s heard me talk about books knows I’m VERY picky about romance, so I was surprised to love Everina Maxwell’s ‘Winter’s Orbit’ as much as I did. Space opera political machinations + deeply sympathetic characters with a believable connection? Fantastic.
