@Tourma I'll be impressed if it's not canceled before it gets to Act 5. (But probably they won't follow the comic's structure that faithfully. Like, there are trolls in the teaser! And remember how long the comic waited before properly introducing Jade?)

Not reading Wheel of Time is the right choice. It was part of the fantasy culture in the 90s, lots of us grew up with it, it's a nice touchstone, etc., but it's not... good? And it's so long!

@Tourma Ugh, yeah, everything about gender in those books is a mess.

That was actually something the show fixed up quite a bit! Not that I didn't still have quibbles, but it de-gendered some aspects of how the supernatural stuff worked, dropped the weird interest in who various younger characters' first sexual partners will be, and generally didn't keep echoing the same "relations between men and women sure are always like this" themes that the books kept up until Robert Jordan died.
