Powerful story and compelling storytelling! one of the things that strikes me the most is the self-respect Maya Angelou had for herself in the world where black women were utterly marginalized. She knew who she was, and she walked with her head up, no matter what. That is simply transcendently awe-striking and inspiring
The characters are just boring, egotistic, and stereotypical. The story has the potential to be great, but not the way it is told. The author keeps eluding that the book is told by the character when she is older and the world is quite different by then, but just no comments on that later on.
