α - Bill Gates' review
omega - Well this changed how I viewed history forever...
useful reference for construction, transportation, weapon tech, etc.
I bet this book could be condensed into several well constructed graphics.

Review of 'Second Machine Age' on 'GoodReads'
Looked over this yesterday while cleaning out my backlog of ebooks on the to read list (apparently I completely forgot I read this.)
This book dives deeper into economics than most of its peers. Despite that I still think academic economics is the last place I'd look for any meaningful insights into anything.
It also goes into crowd sourcing a bit - (note to self to add notes)

omega - I love the stories about primate behaviors, but the religious ones come off as silly - maybe because I view creationist arguments as being so willfully ignorant to the point of not warranting a response. If someone wants to keep their head in their ass, I'm too disgusted by the thought of all that piled up shit to risk an exchange of ideas.

It really took til 1481 to make notation for '+'....
There was something else but I drank too much soda today...
Anyway this book had a handful of historical insights I haven't seen anywhere else - but the last half was nothing but string theory. Not that its a bad thing, I just don't think its provable & probably won't be for decades to come.

I'll lump this together with Charlie Munger's advice.
I think this is where I got info for the viability of the crowd sourcing model. Sites like Kaggle, Quirky, Innoventive & Affinnova.
