This book isn't for everyone. There's a main character who has conversations with squirrels. And the plot - if you can call it that - is pretty basic: will Veblen and Paul get married? If you can get past that, you'll enjoy the portrait of two dysfunctional families, including details rich enough that I can imagine Wes Anderson mining them for character inspiration in his movies. Quirky. I enjoyed it.
