Ursula K. Le Guin: Always coming home (1985, Harper & Row) 4 stars

What if, instead of calling the imaginary future society that is the focus of this book the Kesh, Le Guin had chosen to name them the Shrek, after the Shrek word for "valley", which would be "Shrek"

Always Coming Home was published in 1985, while William Steig's Shrek came out in 1990. It could have happened.
