I don't know why I thought this was a romance book. It's not. It's about a too-trusting, fifty-something mom faced with financial ruin and impending empty nest. She takes a leap of faith and moves to another state for a job. What seems like the rekindling of an old flame becomes a series of life lessons. She has to learn to stand and speak up for herself and it seems she has the strength to do that only because her daughter's future is on the line. I struggled to like this heroine. She was thoughtful and kind but she'd let people take advantage of her for most of her life, a habit she learned from a parent. The focus is really on her job and her getting the hang of working in a new industry. While there is drama and intrigue involved, I found it underwhelming.
