Review of 'Die with Zero' on 'Goodreads'

The book says this - Life is short. Don't "over-index" on investing and saving for your future self. Invest your money in getting memorable experiences (whatever is important to you - parasailing, spending time with your kid/parent, or throwing a lavish party with your loved ones).

I like the concept of giving away money to your loved things (kids, charity or whatever your love) and dying with the bare minimum thing in your savings account. In principle, this is a good take - live life fully with zest and don't succumb to your work or habits. I also understand this comes only from a place of privilege (social, economic and emotional status). But still, this advice is good.

But I'm not too fond of all the things about metrics like emotional dividends, index on what is essential and other numbers.

Review of 'The Iliad' on 'Goodreads'

This is a brilliant graphic novel to get a great start on an epic like Iliad. Its so beautifully illustrated and very nicely abridged.

After reading this, I felt like I watched a good and long show like Game of Thrones. I think the experience is tough to create in a medium like a graphic novel.

I recommend this if you are keen to get started on the classic texts of the West. This graphic novel is a good starting point before you immerse deep into this world.

I am eagerly looking for to reading the author's next book, The Odyssey.

Review of "What Adults Don't Know about Art" on 'Goodreads'

I am a big fan of the works of The School of Life. I love their books and YouTube videos for making a lot of things related to mental health, relationships, art and architecture more accessible.

I love this book and I wish I had read it when I was in my teens. I have always been taught to look at “Art” as a highbrow thing. A thing for erudite, elite and cultured mind. I have believed that I need put hard work to understand and appreciate it. In that process, I have seen that I have bored the people around. I sometimes become weary by myself. Be it a visit to any popular museum or a documentary movie.

This book dispels that myth and makes art more intimate. It teaches us to put ourselves, our lives and our emotions first and look art thru our lives. It frames it …

INQUILAB ZINDABAD

Review of 'INQUILAB ZINDABAD' on 'Goodreads'

This is a compelling and refreshing biography of Bhagat Singh. I was so impressed by interesting trivia about Bhagat and his times thru this book.

Bhagat studied in DAV boarding school at Lahore. He knew Gayathri Mantra very well but chose to be an atheist. I was stunned by his impeccable English and his clarity of thoughts. I never knew his family of freedom fighters and his high respect for Motilal Nehru. He was acutely aware of class politics, his critique of Congress bourgeois, his concern for the working class and his demands for justice in the corrupt/biased British legal system. When he was unjustly hung by the British, he was so young and commanded high respect among his peers like Jawaharlal Nehru, Subhas Chandra Bose and MK Gandhi.

I came to look at Bhagat in a completely different light and respect after reading this book. This is a part …

Review of 'Storyworthy' on 'Goodreads'

Whoa. This is a super awesome book on storytelling.

The title sounds like a cheesy self-help book, but it surprised me. I expected it to be like a typical non-fiction book, but it reads like a beautiful novel.

The author tells many powerful stories of his life and explains how we can also learn to tell stories. Not just fantasy stories, but authentic and honest stories of our lives that can connect with people. I never was aware of the storytelling communities or the art of storytelling. I knew standup comedy, screenwriting, and novels are ways of crucial storytelling. But I was thrilled to discover the world of storytellers, The Moth GrandSLAM, through this book.

I will dig deep into the rabbit hole of storytellers and workshops on this topic. Why wouldn't I want to entertain the people I love and respect with some genuine, authentic, and vulnerable stories of …
