This was a weird one for me.
I love the concept, and it reads fast and has a fairly interesting plot throughout although I felt it was a bit tropey at times.
The big issue I had was the characters themselves fell quite flat, they felt one dimensional and not all that believable.
Additionally the author’s insistence of using weirdly niche and out of place words felt more like they wanted to show off their vocab at points than enhance the storytelling with a more specific word. It really broke the flow of the book for me at various points.
All that said, I like the idea and general world building and so i’m gonna check out the next one.
I'd say its worth it if you want a fast paced, low investment survival/disaster novel. But if you are looking for more it might not be for you.
